Goli Recharge Energy+ Gummies review: 1,500 mg of Nitrosigine and 36 mg of caffeine

Depends

The headline ingredient is at the dose used in its trials, and the caffeine is low: less than half a cup of coffee. The trials are small and mostly funded by the ingredient's maker. The serving is four gummies with 6 g of sugar.

What Nitrosigine is

Nitrosigine is a branded complex of the amino acid arginine and silicate, stabilized with inositol. Arginine is a building block for nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels. Goli describes it as promoting nitric oxide production to support healthy blood flow, focus and energy levels. Those statements are Goli’s.

It is not a stimulant in the way caffeine is. Any feeling of alertness soon after a serving is more likely to come from the caffeine.

What the studies used

The published human studies used 1,500 mg, the amount in this serving. In two small crossover studies in healthy men, 1,500 mg a day was associated with faster times on a test of mental flexibility. A study of 19 young adults reported better scores on a test of immediate memory an hour after a single 1,500 mg dose. Another found that a single dose increased a measure of blood vessel dilation in 24 young adults, to a similar extent as citrulline malate.

These are short studies with small groups, and several were funded by the company that makes the ingredient. They measured test scores and blood vessel responses, not how energetic people felt over weeks. The label matches the studied dose. The evidence behind that dose is early.

The caffeine

Thirty-six milligrams across four gummies is modest. For comparison, a cup of green tea has 30 mg to 50 mg and a cup of coffee 80 mg to 100 mg. The FDA cites 400 mg a day as an amount not generally associated with negative effects in healthy adults.

A low amount is an advantage if you are sensitive to caffeine or already drink coffee, and a limitation if you expect the lift of an energy drink. Count it with the rest of your day, and avoid it in the six hours before bed.

The sugar and the serving

Four gummies is a larger serving than most, with 6 g of added sugar and 40 calories. The American Heart Association suggests about 25 g of added sugar a day for women and 36 g for men.

What we did not test

This is a label review. We did not taste the gummies or send them to a lab, and we have no data on how they hold up in heat. Flavor descriptions and benefit claims on this page are the brand’s. If we test anything later, this page will say so, with the date.

Bottom line

Recharge Energy+ is a different kind of energy gummy: little caffeine, and a nitric oxide ingredient at its studied dose.

The verdict is “depends”. It suits someone who wants a low-caffeine option and is comfortable that the research on the main ingredient is small and early. It does not suit anyone taking blood pressure medication without advice, or anyone wanting a strong caffeine effect.

Who it is for. Who should leave it on the shelf.
