How we review gummies
Every review on Gummy Verdict follows the same four steps. We call it the Label Check. It is a review of what the manufacturer prints and publishes, compared with published research. It is not a lab test and it is not a taste test, and we will never present it as one.
1. Read
We start with the Supplement Facts panel and the “other ingredients” line, as published by the manufacturer. We record the amount of each active ingredient, the serving size, the suggested use, total sugars and total carbohydrates. Every review links to the page the numbers came from and shows the date we checked it.
2. Compare
We look for human studies of the same ingredient, and where possible the same branded extract. We compare the daily amount in those studies with the daily amount you get by following the label. We link every study we rely on, and we say so when the evidence is thin, mixed or absent.
Benefit claims in a review belong to the brand. We report what the brand says and attribute it. Our own statements are about amounts: what is in the gummy, and how that compares with what was studied.
3. Count
Gummies are sold per gummy and taken per day. We multiply. A gummy with 2 g of sugar that you take four times a day is an 8 g a day product, and we show that number next to the per-gummy number. We do the same for vitamins that have an upper limit.
4. Flag
Every review has a “skip if” list. We check guidance from the National Institutes of Health and similar public sources for pregnancy, breastfeeding, medication interactions and age. All products on this site are reviewed for adults 18 and over.
The three verdicts
- Worth it. The label supports what the product is sold for, the sugar is reasonable, and we would buy it.
- Depends. A good fit for a specific person or goal. The review names that person and points everyone else somewhere better.
- Skip if. Used as a list inside every review, and as the headline verdict when most readers would be better served by something else.
We do not give star ratings or scores out of ten. We have not measured anything that would justify a decimal point.
What we do not do
- We do not test products in a laboratory. If that changes, the review will say which lab and when.
- We do not publish customer testimonials or before-and-after stories.
- We do not give medical advice. Talk to your health care provider before you start a supplement, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a medical condition.
- We do not list prices. They change too often. We link to the current price instead.
Updates and corrections
Labels change. Each review shows the date of its last label check. If you spot a number that no longer matches the bottle, tell us and we will check it and correct the page.
